Since like 2020 I’ve known I’ve had a weird music taste. It used to be pretty normal like not too crazy, the craziest it got when I was younger was that I liked Skrillex when most of the people I knew listened to either rap or anime music. I’m not saying anime music is the most normal but out of the people I knew I was mostly the only one like that. But once I got into the ‘hyperpop’-esque music I’ve known it’s pretty odd to show people. Luckily I’ve always had some people that I’ve known that I could show music to and they generally like it.
Once a year I make a 5 song playlist for a thing I do with some of my friends and two of those people are the people that listen to music in the same vein as me. One of the songs I added to the playlist was this, I wasn’t really expecting them to like it a lot but I honestly assumed they would get the concept. When the song finished one of them said ‘I feel like you showed me the music you listen to now but now you listen to some else’. I kinda see where they come from they prefer the more poppy and synth based hyperpop songs and this is like hardcore dubstep but I assumed some of the idea would transfer.
Mostly this experience has reinforced another topic I’ve been thinking about the entire summer as I’ve started to listen to more and more music like this is what happens when I have to show a prospective partner my music. Like this shit is insane, I kinda always knew that but I thought at least the other people I know that listen to crazy music would get it but idk. I like other types of music but I feel like this type of music is my preference and I can’t really imagine hiding that. I’m not saying its impossible that people can look past it but I feel like in some sorta weird way its like ‘coworker music’
I don’t really know, I am going to see SVDDEN DEATH in montreal soon and thats gonna be hype, and regardless of other peoples opinions I really like this song, I don’t know how much this is recency bias because I think this is the newest add to my playlist to get a review by like a month or so but I do like this song a lot its really in your face which I love and the noises are all I want from a heavy dubstep drop
